We watched the movie Stuart Little this morning. It was a great morning to watch a movie in our jammies. We stopped 1/2 way to have snack. Then after the movie we made a Venn Diagram to compare and contrast the book and movie.
Global citizenship topic! Purchasing ice cream is a real life skill. Kinders were given coins to purchase items to make their own ice cream sundae. Some even preplanned their coins to be able to purchase 2 sundaes. Then some generous Kinders gave their servers (their teachers) a tip :)
This presentation was offered by Tonya Mundinger of the Passumpsic Bank. Kinders were taught coin values and counting coins. Questions for them to ponder over: Do you save your money? What are you saving for? Where do you save your money? Where do you get your money from? A Kinder shared this idea: 3 bins for money, 1 for saving, 1 for spending and 1 for sharing.
This morning the Kinders had to interview some of the students who had their Senior Projects on display. The Kinders were in groups of 3. Each member had a role: Photographer, interviewer, note taker. When we returned back to the classroom, each group had to report back to the group about each project presenter that they interviewed.
"You can blend word parts together". Here are Kinders playing Onset & Rime Go Fish. One person segments the word such as /p/, /ig/ and the other person blends the parts into one word "pig".
Drumming, dancing, laughing, clapping!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Then we sent Riley off on his run for state champion!
New alternative seating. Thanks to bonus points earned from the last Scholastic Book Fair, our classroom now has 3 beanbag chairs as alternative reading spots. The Kinders are learning how to use the beanbag chairs with success.
