Breakfast with the Principals.
https://danvilleschool.org/2017/10/30/come-have-breakfast-with-the-danville-administration/ This week we learned how to use the whole pumpkin after last week's learning about pumpkin parts.
Seeds: we can eat or plant Flesh: we can eat Stem, shell and pulp: we can compost to make soil On Thursday we cut apart a pumpkin to identify the parts and plant some of the seeds. On Friday we made pumpkin pancakes from the pumpkin puree and ate some roasted seeds. Today we were introduced to a new Superkid, OSWALD! Oswald likes to create odd animals and make a book about those animals. Oswald will help us learn about the short sound /o/, rhymes, syllables, handwriting and all the good stuff with learning to read and write. We use the Okay sign to show when we here the /o/ sound in words.
Our Very Hungry Caterpillar is growing, growing and growing with book titles. Come through our hallway and check it out!
Objective: Students will demonstrate knowledge of the engineering and design process by creating a structure (gate) for 5 little pumpkins to sit on.
Kinders are natural born engineers and scientists. We need to foster and develop these abilities rather than tell students to pack them away when they walk through our classroom doors. Cass is our first Superkids character. Cass has introduced us to the Superkids program. Cass has brought so much excitement for learning to read and write and now we have a Cass figure to play with during STEAM exploration. We will have 12 Superkids characters to help us learn and grow as readers and writers.
