Weather is our year long science unit. We have borrowed a teaching kit from our partner, the Montshire Museum. This week we took a field trip to the Fairbanks Museum in St. Johnsbury to learn about instruments that are used to measure the different types of weather that we experience here in Northern Vermont. As a Danville resident, you get FREE admission to the Fairbanks Museum. I hope you and your Kinder take advantage of this wonderful opportunity many times this year.

To launch our next science unit (Life Cycles of Animals) we gathered insight for a KWL, "What do you know about how a caterpillar becomes a butterfly?". Then we released a butterfly that was hatched in Ms. Copen's classroom. We will have a mealworm habitat in our classroom to observe the cycle all year long, as well as provide our chickens with a "treat" during the colder months.
Teaching tolerance and building bridges between the two Kindergarten classrooms is a commitment that Mrs. Remick and Ms. Copen embrace each and every day. Mixing students during academic and social times encourages students to identify, question and cross social boundaries. Here in these photos, we had a Mix It Up STEAM exploration.
